FYI ... No article Wednesday, October 28 ... I'm Bermuda Bound, with 80 others, on Carnival's Splendor only 7 night cruise, out of Norfolk, in 2015 ! You should have joined us !

Most cruise lines insurance covers, death and sickness, to
get your money back, with no refund nor compensation, for pre-existing medical situations. Others cover 75% towards a future cruise, to cancel
for any reason. So if the “Doctor” determines
the reason for cancelling is pre-existing medical, any chance at refund is “null”.
Unfortunately, due to the high cost, for an agency to
make available, a higher value Trip Cancellation Insurance coverage (from a 3rd
party vendor), such as pre-existing coverage, most Travel Agencies, just offer what’s
available through the cruise lines. Yet some
larger National Agencies, may have available, for their clients, a pre-existing
waiver, included with their Trip Cancellation Insurance, and without a higher
cost to the cruiser. So yes, "where you
buy your cruise", can determine for you, the available coverage for purchase.
“In the context of healthcare in the United States, a
pre-existing condition is a medical condition that started before a person's
health insurance went into effect”.
Some folks are aware they have a pre-existing medical
condition, yet unaware than many Trip Cancellation Insurance do not cover ! Others are unaware, that the simplicity of
just “changing one’s medication”, can place folks in a pre-existing medical status.
Just in the past 2 months, my blood thinner medication has been changed 3 times by the doctor and my blood pressure medication type, was changed once. This can subject my chance of a vacation refund, if I were to need to cancel my vacation.
“There’s power in pre-existing medical coverage waiver”!
Fortunately, our company offers a pre-existing medical
coverage waiver, as long as I buy this Trip Cancellation coverage “at time of
deposit”. As long as I’m ok to travel,
at time of purchasing my vacation/insurance, this waiver allows me to not worry
over my pre-existing medical or medication changes.
To top that … Now that I have purchased this coverage
with my deposit … It also covers “any new medical issues”, that could develop,
that I’m yet aware of. Such as future
medication changes or new health issues.
I’m covered, “up till time of vacation” !
With this pre-existing waiver coverage already purchased
at time of deposit, it’s one less thing for me to worry over, till time of
vacation. Especially if my medical
condition were to take a change, in not allowing me to travel.
I know folks, who buy Trip Cancellation Insurance, as
their hopes of “warding off” unforeseen situations and the insurance never
used. And others who bought, only cause
they thought that was the thing to do, and it was a life-saver for the vacation
dollars.
Reminder … Select Trip Cancellation Insurances also cover
“while you’re on vacation”. Again,
whether you are covered, will be determined (by the doctor only), if it was a
pre-existing condition and if you have that coverage or not ! So insurance is not just about “canceling
before you go” … It’s also about needed coverage “while you’re gone”.
Isn’t it TIME to take stock/value in which Trip
Cancellation Insurance you “think you’re buying” and to buy the available coverage
? Just because you do not have a
pre-existing medical condition today, doesn’t mean one won’t develop tomorrow
! Yes, it’s as simple as “medication”
changes.
