TravelMoleUSA writes article:
The Federal Trade Commission has sent a letter to 22 hotels warning them that their listed room rates and taxes don't reveal hidden "resort" and other fees.

The Commission is complaining that some operators either don't list or reveal hidden fees at all, some list them in small print, in vague terms or on miss-able links to other online pages.

"These practices may violate the law by misrepresenting the price consumers can expect to pay for their hotel rooms," the letter said. "We believe that online hotel reservation sites should include in the quoted total price any unavoidable or mandatory fees, such as resort fees, that consumers will be charged to stay at the hotel."

The agency would not reveal which hotels received the warning letter.
